Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has a wide variety of programs and services to help agribusinesses. The National Organic Agriculture Program is a collaborative document spearheaded by the National Organic Agriculture Board through the cooperation of various stakeholders of the organic industry, relevant national government agencies, non-government organisations, civil society and people’s organisations. The program serves as the guide for the implementation of Organic Agriculture activities under the Department of Agriculture and its implementing units. Under his leadership as Governor, Ilocos Norte saw significant expansion in rice and corn production as well as in livestock. Germany has by far the highest variety of cheeses worldwide with 9,500 cheeses coming from Germany. Germany's cheese production comprises approximately one-third of the total for all European-produced cheeses. Milbenkäse – a specialty cheese made from quark and produced using the action of cheese mites. Historically, the cheese was produced in the Saxony-Anhalt/Thuringia border region of Zeitz and Altenburg districts; today it is produced exclusively in the village of Würchwitz, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Altenburger Ziegenkäse – a soft cheese from cow's milk and goat's milk with caraway seeds in the cheese dough. Because of its protected designation of origin, the cheese may only be produced in the districts of Altenburger Land, Burgenland and Leipzig and the independent city of Gera.

In order to feed a population expected to grow to 9 billion people by 2050, the world will have to double its current food production. Given scarcity of natural resources and other challenges, the world will need to be more efficient in how it meets this demand. To ensure that people have sufficient food, aligning short-term assistance with a long-term development strategy can help countries feed their own people.
